It is almost SUMMER! Just a few days aways! That means busy days, filled with activities and sunshine. Having some super simple snacks on hand is definitely a good idea for this time of year!
Ideally, we’d all be eating meals that keep us full from breakfast to lunch, lunch to dinner, but let’s be real. That’s just not always the case. So we need something nourishing (and yummy) to tide us over in the meantime. I put together a list of my favorite ones and you may find a few in this list that you will like as well.
Nuts and Cubed Cheese. Yes, it’s important that the cheese is cubed! Okay, it isn’t. But this is how I like to eat cheese. It’s more fun and cute and also I just have a weird issue with eating sliced cheese and prefer it in cubes.
Hard Boiled Eggs. This one may seem obvious, but it’s one I often forget actually. They’re so tasty and for an extra delicious snack I eat them mashed with avocado or a yummy creamy cheese.
Yogurt, Honey, and Granola. This is another one of our most common snacks. We love Siggi’s yogurt because it’s delicious and super good quality. We also often eat Costco Kirkland Plain Greek Yogurt. We usually top it with raw, unfiltered, local honey and our favorite Purely Elizabeth Ancient Grains Gluten Free Granola. If we have them on hand, we use berries as well. This truly feels like a treat because it’s just that tasty.
Veggies and Hummus. This one is pretty self explanatory. I usually get organic hummus from Costco. Just look at the ingredients and make sure they’re all up to par. No yucky oils or anything.
Chips and Salsa. This is a super fun and easy snack that we love. Again, look at the ingredients on your chips. You can find really good ones usually just at your local grocery store. Avoid chips made with oils like canola and vegetable. Avocado or coconut oil is preferable. A clean salsa is super easy to find! Just check your ingredients. We love to mash an avocado with the salsa as well. Mmmmm I’m getting hungry!
Larabar. Larabars are a GREAT on-the-go snack! They’re super tasty and made with minimal, healthful ingredients. We have these often.
Berries and Cream. We don’t indulge in this often, but when we do it’s such a treat. SO. DELICIOUS. If you’ve never made Coconut Whipped Cream, you’re missing out! It’s so easy. Grab a can of full-fat coconut milk and refrigerate for a few hours. When you open the can, the liquid and coconut milk should have separated. Put the solid coconut milk in a mixer and mix. You can add honey or a touch of Pure Maple Syrup for extra sweetness. Then mix with berries and enjoy!
